The English & Music/Singing Summer Camp is open to campers aged 10-16 wishing to develop their music skills, bringing out each student's creative side while improving their English, through music classes and singing workshops as well as English lessons.
- Music & English: 15 hours of instrumental music (mornings) + 15 hours of English classes (afternoons) per week.
- Singing & English: 15 hours of singing and voice coaching (mornings) + 15 hours of English (afternoons) per week.
Language Lessons (15 hours)
Students sit a placement test at the start of the course to assess their language proficiency and ensure they are placed in the right class. The English programme includes 5 different levels and students will be given a signed progress report at the end of their stay.
In order to give students the opportunity to practise using English in a broad range of real-life settings outside of classroom, the recreational, social and sports activity programme is held in English.
Average of 10 and a maximum of 14 students per class.
Minimum required level of English : 1 schoolyear.
The music lessons are adapted to help the student develop their personal and social skills. Students should have at least 1 year's prior study of their chosen instrument. The workshops take place in small groups of 4 to 14 students.
The programme includes rehearsals, workshops and performances, as well as taking part in a concert at the end of the stay. Instruments can be loaned (fees apply - between £30 - £80 depending on the instrument) but we recommend you bring your own instrument, where possible.
Every weekend, students staying for at least two weeks have the opportunity to participate in excursions, supervised and organised by the staff.
On Saturdays, students visit a theme park, and on Sundays, they visit nearby cities in the south of England (London, Brighton, Bath, Bournemouth, Cambridge…). London is accessible on request, in particular for non-european students and at extra cost. The excursions are supervised by group leaders but are not official guided tours.
For these excursions students will need a bit of pocket money for entries and other possible expenditures (shopping, souvenirs,etc.).
Students between 9 and 11 years are supervised during the whole excursions, those between 12 and 14 years can have a bit more autonomy and must meet their leader in charge every hour, those between 15 and 16 years are allowed 2 hours free time on their own.
The camp includes an evening activity programme specially designed for campers to mingle and make the most of their camp experience. The majority of these activities take place on campus.
Group leaders organise theme evenings such as "Crazy Olympics", "fashion evenings", "Coach Hunt", "Race Night", casino nights, karaoke, cabaret, "Blind Date", and an international disco at the end of the programme.
For students aged 15-16, several off-campus evening outings are organised (cinema, ice skating, pizza). You will need to have some pocket money for these outings (around £30 per week).
Our two music centres have rehearsal spaces and a recording studio, and IT suite, as well as also modern classrooms, sports facilities, games areas and a theatre.
