Cinematography

This Marymount programme is organised to allow students to discover the fascinating process of creating a short film. Students learn with professionals how to write a scene and create storyboards, as well as the basics of how to operate a camera and other technical equipment. After finishing their shoot, students learn the fundamentals of how to use industry-standard software to edit and create a final cut. Students are taught by instructors, directors and tech experts from the University of Columbia. At the end of the course, students will have the option to screen their film in an exhibition for programme participants and will receive a DVD of their film.

Activities

This three-week programme also offers students the possibility to discover the secrets of Hollywood through tours of well-known movie studios (Paramount, Warner Brothers and Sony MGM), cinema make-up schools, and the famous neighbourhood of Hollywood to maybe even see a movie star! The camp is not solely about film: weekend excursions take students to some of California’s finest natural parks and beaches. Students also have the option to visit some attraction parks, Disneyland and Universal Studios, for a small additional price.
