One of the most reputed and prestigious university towns in the world, Cambridge has been an attractive destination for students for centuries. Nowadays, it is famous and loved not only for its academic excellence, but also for the pleasant atmosphere of its historic old town and for its thriving cultural life.
Numerous museums, theatres, art galleries, and interesting historical monuments (such as the cathedral and the many colleges and churches) attract visitors year-round. Students also enjoy the atmosphere of the narrow medieval streets, the many parks and markets, and the cosmopolitan and trendy cultural style.
School
Created in 1954, our partner school benefits of high quality and experience. Accredited by the British Council and member of English UK and Education UK. Intensive English and Examination courses for adults and fun-filled language and activity programmes. Qualified and experienced teachers. The courses include a range of activities and local visits after classes. You will always be doing something fun and speaking English with fellow participants from every corner of the world. At the end of your course you will receive academic certification showing your achievements and your proficiency in the English language. The school is just 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of town and 400 meters from the main train station. Learning Centre with library, computers, multimedia facilities and free Internet.
Courses
For participants aged 16 or over, we offer courses in general English, intensive English and preparation for internationally recognized examinations such as Cambridge ESOL, IELTS and TOEIC. Our courses have a good balance of lessons, social and cultural activities and enough free time for you to explore this wonderful city. At least five activities each week included. All levels from complete beginner to advanced. Progress tests throughout your course. 16 students per class maximum, 13 average.
- General English: 20 lessons of 45 minutes per week from 9:15 to 12:45 from Monday to Friday.
The content of the course differ according to the level. However, each class include the study of grammar, speaking and pronunciation, writing skills, listening and reading comprehension.
- Intensive English: 28 lessons of 45 minutes per week from 9:15 to 12:45 and from 13:45 to 15:15 every weekday (except Friday afternoon).
You will attend the 20 English course in the morning and you may choose one or more options for the afternoon classes depending on your interests and level of English (Culture, Business, TOEIC, Language Plus, Reading and Writing or Academic English).
- Preparation for Cambridge examinations
- Cambridge : 28 lessons of 45 minutes per week during 6, 9 or 13 weeks. This course is designed not just for people wishing to take the University of Cambridge FCE and CAE examinations, but also for people who want a highly structured and demanding course with a greater emphasis on grammar and writing. Intermediate level required.
- IELTS : 28 lessons per week during 6 weeks. The International English Language Testing System is an internationally recognized qualification for entry to universities and colleges throughout the English-speaking world. Upper Intermediate level required.
Activities
Our school organises a weekly programme of entertainment for participants. Every week there is a Pub Night - an opportunity to make new friends, practice your English and have fun. We also have traditional afternoon tea , orientation tours of the city, museum visits, football, parties and trips to the theatre and cinema. All of the daytime and evening activities offered are free of charge; however, there are some recommended events such as student nights at discos in the city, or cultural and theatre trips that you may have to pay for.
On the weekends we offer cheap one-day excursions to places like London, Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon, Brighton, as well as all-weekend trips to Amsterdam, Paris and Scotland. We even offer horse-riding weekends in Wales.
Accommodation
For this programme we propose accommodation with a host family or a residence.
Host family
Living with a host family in their private home is the best way to experience England at first hand. It will enrich your understanding of the English language, the customs and culture, and provide you with a friendly environment.
There are three types of homestay accommodation:
- Three Star (good, clean accommodation)
- Four Star (High standard, larger home and additional facilities)
- Five Star (large house with private bathroom)
They are located no more than 30 minutes from school on foot or using the bus service. Single rooms, or double rooms for couples. Half board.
Residence - Between 22/07 and 26/08
Located on only a 5 minute walk from the school and 15 minutes from the city center, this is the ideal accommodation if you want to meet foreign students and have more independence.
You get a single room and your own bathroom and share a kitchen and living room.
Laundry facilities are available with washing machines and dryers. The bed linen is provided but you should bring your own towels.

Programmes start on a Sunday and finish on a Saturday.
Most courses start on Mondays. However, because of a public holiday, some start on Tuesday. These are: 4/01, 26/04, 3/05, 31/05, 30/08.
The school is closed on the following public holidays : 16/12/2011 to 03/01/2012, 2/01, 6-9/04, 7/05, 4/06, 27/08, 22/12/2012 to 6/01/2013.

VISA Information
For non-EU residents, you can apply for a Student Visitor Visa to enter the UK. It is valid for 6 months, even if you intend to stay for less time. It does not entitle you to work. We do not include any VISA application fees in our prices.
