Location
Ireland’s second city, Cork is known throughout the country for its artists, musicians, writers and artisans. Students of English here appreciate the warm ambiance that permeates the city. The residents of Cork are reputed for their friendliness, hospitality, and love of discussion.
The city also offers numerous possibilities for athletic activities and excursions. This lively city offers everything that a student of English could want for a short or long stay. Moreover, the cost of living in Cork is much lower than most Irish cities.
School
Our partner school in Cork is located in the historic centre of the city, near the business district and close to a number of bars and restaurants. The school, which is a family institution, offers a competent staff and high quality courses.
Courses
The classes, open to any level, typically have between 8 and 10 students, with a maximum of 15 in the summer. Warning: General English courses are open to students from 16 years and up, while Business English courses are restricted to 18 years and up.
We offer the following courses in Cork:
- Standard English
20 full hours of lessons per week, 4 hours per day in the morning. This programme is available with General or Business English courses.
- Intensive English
28 full hours of lessons per week, in the morning and the afternoon, with the afternoon classes being principally dedicated to conversation. This programme is available with General or Business English courses.
- Combined Courses : 20+5/+10/+15
This programme includes the standard courses outlined above (20 hours per week) plus 5, 10, or 15 hours a week of individual, private lessons.
- Cambridge Exam Preparation CoursesL 28 lessons
The school offers three sessions of four weeks of preparation courses for Cambridge exams (FCE).
An intermediate level is required to follow these courses.
Accommodation
We offer two possibilities for accommodation in Cork:
- Host Families
Our families are carefully selected according to the quality of the accommodation and their desire to host foreign students. They are generally located in the residential areas, a maximum of 30 minutes from the school. This option includes a private room, half-board (2 meals a day), and transportation to and from the airport at the beginning and end of the course.
- Shared Apartment
This option isideal for participants aged over 18. The apartments are completely equipped and include a shared kitchen. They are generally situated about 15 minutes from the school. Bedding is provided, but students must bring their own towels.

Dates 2012
The courses are available year round and begin each Monday. Stays are from Sunday to Saturday.
Session Dates FCE:
- May 14 to June 8, tests 8 and 9 June Registration deadline April 20,
- July 23 to August 17, tests 22 and 23 August (calculate one extra week accommodation). Registration deadline July 20,
- November 12 to December 7, Examinations on 7 and 8 December. Registration deadline Oct. 19.
The school is closed during the Christmas holidays and the following days: 2/01,19/03, 9/04, 7/05, 4/06, 6/08, 29/10.

Transport
- Arrival airport: Cork or Dublin
- We organise transfers from Cork airport to your accommodation. If your arrival airport is Dublin, you can take a bus to Cork. Check out the shuttle bus timetable on the following website: www.aircoach.ie/
If you prefer, we can book your flights for you. Please ensure you make this clear when you enrol.
If you intend to book your own flight, endeavour to arrive the Sunday before the start of your course, and leave the Saturday following the end of it.
VISA Information
If you are an EU resident, you do not need a visa. A passport or ID card will be fine.
For students who do need a visa, and intend to study in Ireland, you will need to bring the following documents to your local Irish Embassy:
- an official letter from our partner school in Ireland, confirming that you have been accepted in a programme of study
- receipt of full fee payment to the school
- proof that you have sufficient funds to subsist during your stay
