Edinburgh, the Athens of the North. With its fantastic castle perched atop the volcanic Rock Castle, Edinburgh is majestic, stately, and mesmerizing. Just like in Greece, Edinburgh's acropolis, Calton Hill, sits high up on the hill looking down over the city. Right on the seaboard, Edinburgh is a city of fascinating architecture built into hills, cliffs, and crags, so much so that the entire city has been proclaimed a World Heritage site. From the castle to the elegant Georgian Crescents, art galleries, museums, botanic gardens, numerous bistros, halal shops and tapas bars, Edinburgh has something for everyone.

Known for its rowdy pubs and vibrant festivals, there is always somewhere to go or something to do. There is the excitement of the Edinburgh Festival, attracting many a number of performers and catering to all tastes and budgets, as well as the Hogmanay New Year celebrations and May Day. Scotland’s reputation for academic excellence attracts many undergraduate and post-graduate students to its four universities, making Edinburgh a diverse and exciting cosmopolitan city. And for those who enjoy the countryside, there are beautiful beaches and rolling hills within a short bus ride of the city centre or for the more adventurous traveller, there is regular transportation to the Highlands and Islands.

Our partner school, TLI, is located in a quiet residential area in the West End of Edinburgh but is still only a 10-minute walk from the city's main shopping streets and the historic Edinburgh Castle. It's a warm and welcoming environment where students make rapid progress in their English abilities in small and personalized classes. Students have free WiFi access and a study lounge at their disposal.

The school is open to students ages 16 and up for stays of one week to one year. Courses begin Mondays year-round. Students sit a placement test upon arrival and are put into the appropriate level. Lessons are each 60 minutes long.

English is becoming increasingly important in the business world. Participants work on listening, reading, vocabulary, and discussion, as well as doing case studies. These courses are given in very small groups (3 students maximum) to ensure personal attention and a proper learning environment.

  • Minimum level: Intermediate
  • Monday - Friday 9:30am - 1pm, 1:30pm - 3pm

Please note that we only guarantee a social program from June to September.

Many of the events that we organise take place at the school itself. These include BBQ's in the school garden, film afternoons, quiz nights. If you are interested in seeing the beautiful city of Edinburgh a bit closer, we offer free walks and talks about the city in the afternoons. We can also arrange specially prepared tours of the local monuments and visitor attractions during this time.

Staying with a host family is the best way to fully delve into the English language and Scottish culture. We take enormous care in selecting the best host family for the student and all of our families are carefully screened. Students are encouraged to spend time with their families in order to make the most out of their stay in the country. Accommodation may be with a more traditional family, or with a couple or even a single person.

Students stay in single rooms with half board during the week and full board on the weekends. We cannot guarantee families, and students may have to share a room during busy periods (May – October). Families all live in Edinburgh and within 5 minutes of a bus stop, and they take care of laundry and provide bedding. However, we do ask students to bring their own towels.
