Location
Glasgow is the largest and most vibrant city in Scotland with a population of just over 650,000 inhabitants. It is a cosmopolitan city with social activities to suit all tastes and budgets. From great shopping to a fantastic selection of museums and art galleries to theatres, restaurants, nightclubs and bars. Glasgow was voted the UK’s No.1 city for tourists in the Condé Nast 2006 readers’ survey.
Glasgow is many things to many people. As well as being one of the friendliest and most welcoming cities in the world, it also offers a wide range of cultural attractions. It has a wealth of stunning architecture and ’must see’ attractions to suit all tastes. Whatever you are looking for, the city has something for you. With three universities and numerous colleges and a student population of approximately 40,000, it has a real international feeling and is one of the best places in the world to study. It is also easy to travel to other parts of the country. Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city is less than 50 miles away and takes less than an hour to get to.

Courses
Whether you want to improve your English to enter university, for your career, or for your own personal development, we have a course that is right for you. We offer a range of courses all year round and you can choose to study from as little as one week to one year or more. Each lesson is 60 minutes long. You can enrol on most Mondays (see dates).
On the first day of school you will receive a free placement test to ensure that you are assigned to the most appropriate class. All levels are accepted. The average class size is 12.
- General English (15 hrs/wk)
The course is ideal for anyone who wants to improve their all-round communication skills. Every morning, you will study a balanced mix of the four skills (speaking, listening, reading & writing) and the four systems (grammar, vocabulary, functions & pronunciation) with a strong emphasis on practical, every day communication. There are also regular feedbacks sessions so you can discuss with your teacher what you would like to do.
- Intensive English (22.5 hrs/wk)
In the mornings, you will attend the General English programme focused on communication skills (speaking, listening, reading & writing). In the afternoons, you will attend special workshops each of which focuses on a specific skill or language area such as Reading & Vocabulary, Speaking & Listening and Writing & Grammar.
- IELTS or Cambridge preparation (25 hrs/wk)
This is a full-time course that combines the general skills needed to live and study in the UK with special exam preparation classes. The morning classes (15 hours) focus on language skills; afternoon classes (10 hours) focus on exam skills. The teachers of this course typically hold IELTS/Cambridge Marker or Examiner status.
The examinations can be taken all over the world. In Scotland, the IELTS can be taken at Glasgow University or Basil Paterson college. The exam takes place several times a month but you must apply at least six-weeks before the test date. The FCE or CAE can be taken in 2 colleges in Glasgow (Anniesland College of Further Education and Langside College Glasgow). The exam normally takes place each month. Intermediate level minimum. - TOEIC Preparation (25 hrs/wk)
The TOEIC exam is one of the world’s most popular tests of Business and Professional English and ideal for those looking for work in an English speaking environment. The TOEIC examination can be taken at our partner school. Intermediate level required.
- Business English (25 hrs/wk)
Learning Business English is much more than simply learning some industry-specific vocabulary, it is about learning transferable skills, adapting to new working environments, working across language and cultural barriers. This course offers participants who are intending to work in the UK or abroad the language and communications skills required to achieve success in their current and future professional life.
There are 15 hours of General English in the mornings and 10 hours of Business English in the afternoons including: meetings, negotiations, presentations, telephoning, reports, email, etc. It can relate to management, finance, sales and marketing, tourism and hospitality or other fields. The Bulats exam can be taken after the session (see ’dates’).
