English in Miami

Program

Destination

With 900 miles of beaches and a chain of islands called The Keys, it’s not hard to see why Florida is known as the Sunshine State! The area is home to NASA headquarters - Kennedy Space Centre, magical Walt Disney World and Everglades National Park.

Deemed the "glamour" capital of America, Miami is a cross between Latin America, the Caribbean, the USA, and Europe. Representing the fifth largest business centre in the USA, it is also the most famous coastal city on the country's easy coast.

School

Our partner school in Miami has just opened, and is situated right in the heart of South Beach, on the famous Lincoln Road. The beach, restaurants, bars, and shops are located nearby.

The school features 14 classrooms and very modern equipment. WiFi is available throughout the school and students can make use of the relaxation areas such as the TV room or study centre.

Courses

Classes are open to all levels, from beginner to advanced, with a maximum of 14 students per class. Upon arrival, you will take a placement test to determine your level. Lessons last 45 minutes.

We offer several course programmes:

  • Standard English: 20 lessons per week:
This standard English programme features 20 English lessons in the mornings from Monday to Friday. These classes focus on the four main skills of a language: writing, speaking, reading, and listening.

  • Intensive English: 30 lessons per week:
With this programme, you will have the chance to develop your vocabulary further and significantly improve your speaking and listening skills. Classes take place in the mornings and the start of the afternoons, from Monday to Friday.

  • Private classes: per 2 hour block
As a complement to general or intensive courses, we also offer private lessons. These allow you to cover areas that you may have had trouble with in class, and to focus on specific objectives (technical vocabulary, for example).

  • Business English: 30 lessons per week
Aimed at students of intermediate or advanced levels, our Business English classes give the chance to acquire the specific vocabulary of the business world and get a better idea of how to function in a professional context.

  • Cambridge Exam preparation: 30 lessons per week
For FCE and CAE exams. Sessions of 10 or 12 weeks, including 30 lessons per week (cf. "Prices and Dates"). These programmes require a minimum level of B! for FCE and B2 for CAE.

  • TOEFL Preparation: 30 lessons per week
The TOEFL is becoming indispensable for entry into certain American universities. We offer you the chance to prepare for this exam with specialised classes in the form of 30 lessons per week. Sessions last for 4 to 8 weeks.

Accommodation

Accommodation in Miami runs from Saturday to Saturday.

We offer two types of accommodation for this programme:

  • Host family

This type of accommodation is very popular among students wishing to regularly practice their English outside of the classroom and who want to experience the daily life of an American family.

Students stay in a private room (shared rooms are available only if you enrol with someone at the same time), half board is included and the family provides linen and bath towels.

Warning: under 18s MUST stay with a host family.

  • In a studio (residence)

This is the ideal accommodation if you prefer to have a bit more independence and peace. A studio is a large room with a bed, a small equipped kitchen, a living area, and a bathroom. Bed linen and bath towels are provided.
