Destination
Located in the Western Pacific Ocean, the Philippines is made up of 7,000 tropical islands and home to 90 million inhabitants. A former Spanish colony with a rich history, the Philippines is a melting pot of many different cultural backgrounds. The local population is a mix of Malay, Spanish and Chinese descendants. Eastern and Western influences have shaped the country for centuries, which is apparent in Philippine cuisine- a mixture of Asian and European dishes.
Cebu is the country’s second most important city and is located in the centre of the chain of islands. The city provides a year-round tropical climate, with temperatures averaging 26°C (78°F). The invariably blue skies and cool sea breezes never fail to delight visitors; it is perfect weather to discover the city’s many beautiful white sand beaches, explore the islands, and take part in all the school activities. Cebu is also a very safe, quiet and welcoming city, which offers students an ideal atmosphere to study and unwind.
English is widely spoken throughout the chain of islands, alongside the Filipino language, Tagalog. English is one of the country’s official languages, used in schools as an official medium of instruction from preschool to university level.
School
Situated close to the centre of town, our partner school in Cebu is conveniently located just a few minutes away from several beach resorts, shopping malls, restaurants and movie theatres.
The school facilities are very impressive: the five story building houses 260 classrooms and 180 fully-equipped student rooms. A former hotel converted into a school, it is very comfortable and offers students above-average services and facilities, including a cafeteria for breakfast, lunch and dinner (Korean and international food), an outdoor swimming pool, a gym, a ping-pong table, a pool room, a film-room/lounge, a garden, laundry services, sports equipment rental (golf clubs etc.), an infirmary, and an Internet room with free WiFi.
The school staff is very involved in providing help and advice to students. Staff members are always available to help students and to answer their questions; whether it is about student visas, exchanging money or a range of other needs and assistance.
Activities
In addition to all the attractions of the city and the islands, the school offers students a wide range of activities, at very reasonable prices: Scuba-diving and snorkeling, golf, dance, climbing, kayaking, island hopping, horseback riding, rips to waterfalls and other sights, sightseeing, jet skiing, and more!
Courses
This programme is an ideal mixture of individual and very small group classes. It focuses on intensive English practice, with different specialty areas such as pronunciation and listening, conversation and discussion, or language structure and pattern.
The teaching staff is comprised of dedicated native-speakers from Australia, the USA, Canada, as well as Filipino teachers. English is the sole language authorized within the school. Small class sizes (maximum 8 students) guarantee individual attention and optimal student involvement.
Courses are offered at all levels, from beginner to advanced, Monday through Friday.
Two programmes are available:
- Semi-intensive: 30 lessons per week
6 lessons (40 minutes) per day, including 2 individual lessons (one-on-one), 2 lessons in mini-groups (4 students) and two lessons in small groups (8 students). - Intensive: 40 lessons per week
8 lessons (40 minutes) per day, including 4 individual lessons (one-on-one), 2 lessons in mini-groups (4 students) and 2 lessons in small groups (8 students).
On Friday afternoons, courses are replaced by various activities, always in English, of course.
Remark
The population of the school and the residence is young (17/18-30) and essentially of asian origin (Korean, Japanese, Indonesian) with some European students.
This programme is therefore aimed primarily at young people and students; older participants are of course completely welcome, provided they are aware that they will find themselves amongst a younger student body.
Accommodation
Accommodation is organised by the school and is located directly on the campus. This way students can take advantage of school facilities at all times.
Students stay in private or shared rooms (shared with one or two other people).
All rooms include a bathroom and a television and are air conditioned.
Accommodation is in the form of full board using the school's cafeteria, with a choice between many asiatic dishes.

Courses start every first and third Friday of the month, year-round. Students can enrol for a minimum of 4 weeks.
Holidays (no classes) : 1/01, 24/2, 9/04, 1/05, 12/06, 28/06, 9/09, 1/11, 30/11, 25/12, 30/12.

If you prefer, we can book your flights for you. This must be made clear at the moment of enrolment.
If you intend to book your own flight, try to arrive the Sunday before the start of your course and leave the Saturday following its end.
Visa Information
It is not necessary to obtain a visa for short stays (less than 21 days) as long as you have already purchased your return ticket and have a passport which will be valid for at least six months past your departure date.
It is then possible to obtain extensions for stays lasting two months, with the help of an school intermediary who will use a service to help you carry out this request.
The maximum duration of an extension is one year.
