English in Toronto

Program

Destination

Canada, the world’s second largest country by landmass, is one of the world’s geographic wonders. This country is home to almost every climate on earth, from the wind-swept tundra of the North Territories to the temperate rain forests and mountains of British Columbia. Canada is home to the world’s largest freshwater lakes and vast expanses of pine forests.

Toronto, Canada’s largest city and the 5th largest city in North America, is a fascinating cultural melting pot, where over 100 languages and dialects are spoken. Principal among these is, of course, English, making the city a wonderful place to improve your English, while enjoying a vibrant multicultural atmosphere. Toronto offers lots to do and see: sailing on Lake Ontario, cultural events, and interesting architecture, such as the CN tower, the world’s tallest tower. Here you will find lively nightlife. Toronto has the lowest crime rate of any major city in the Americas.

The school is accredited by Languages Canada and member of CEC (Canadian Education Centre Network) and FIYTO (Federation of International Youth Travel Organisations).

Courses

We offer 4 programmes in our catalogue (lessons last 50 minutes):

  • General English: 20, 25 or 30 lessons per week
The General English course emphasizes developing the more practical aspects of the language. In addition to the course book, teachers use other didactic materials such as movies, songs and news articles to bring the language to life in class. Students participate in debates, presentations and role-playing games in order to stimulate confidence in speaking. Groups have a maximum of 9 students (13 in July and August). Minimum age: 16. Classes for all levels of ability.
  • TOEFL Preparation: 30 lessons per week
For students interested in taking an internationally-recognized English proficiency test such as the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), our exam preparation course aims to acheive the best possible preparation. This course places an emphasis on vocabulary and the three elements of the TOEFL: oral comprehension, grammar and written expression. Students also take practice tests to train for the real TOEFL. Minimum age: 16. From intermediate to advanced levels.
  • TOEIC Preparation: 30 lessons per week
This course is based on the prerequisites of the TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) and targets the development of essential competencies for daily communication in the business world, as well as for correspondence, presentations and negotiation. Minimum age: 16. From intermediate to advanced levels.
  • Business English: 30 lessons per week
Our Business English programme is designed to help students widen their vocabulary and develop their writing and listening capabilities in professional environments in order to allow them to communicate efficiently in various commercial situations (interviews, negotiations, presentations). Minimum age: 19. From intermediate to advanced levels.
