French in Cannes

Program

Destination

Known for its palaces, its luxury hotels, and its legendary festival, Cannes remains a traditional Mediterranean city, available to any budget. In this relatively small city (70 000 inhabitants), you will feel like you're at home and will be able to make the most of all that Cannes has to offer: affordable bars and restaurants, market streets, public beaches, free concerts, and many other curiosities to discover!

The summer season features free demonstrations such as the musical nights of Suquet, the Russian Art Festival, the Pyrotechnic Art Festival, etc...

School

Founded in 1931 by the French poet Paul Valéry, our partner school is an superior establishment dedicated to teaching French language and civilisation. Its mission is to offer foreigners high quality French lessons in a suitable environment and between a mix of nationalities.

The school features 22 classrooms equipped with all the latest audiovisual technology, as well as a library, a multimedia room, a television room, a theatre, a gym, and indoor court, WiFi access. Any student would be happy here!

Moreover, the school is variously accredited. It is notably recognised by the French government with the label "FLE-qualité" (quality of teaching French as a foreign language), and is a member of CampusFrance, a national agency charged with the promotion of French language schools abroad.

Activities

The school's coordination office offers a certain number of services, which allows students to discover Cannes' social, cultural, and practical life. The activity programme is put up as a poster in the school at the start of each session.

Sport: volley-ball, tennis, mountain-biking, horse-riding, canyoning, sub-aqua diving, skiing, hiking, football.

Excursions: Nice-Antibes, Eze-Monaco, Saint-Tropez et Port-Grimaud, Aix-en-Provence, Porquerolles, the isles of Lérins, the Verdon gorges, Avignon, Cassis...

Evenings: dance nights, piano-bar nights, game nights, crêpe nights, ice-cream nights, wine and cheese nights...

Courses

The school accepts students at all levels, from beginner to advanced (see dates). When you arrive, you will take a test in order to determine your level.

Each lesson lasts 45 minutes with on average 10 students per class. Minimum duration of the course: 2 weeks.

Here are the different course programmes available:

  • Standard programme: 18 lessons per week
18 group French lessons per week, in the morning Monday to Friday. Courses cover all the aspects of the French language: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

  • Intensive programme: 25 lessons per week
In addition to the standard courseload, you will take 5 collective lessons per week organised normally on a Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoon.

  • Intensive Plus programme: 30 lessons per week
In addition to the intensive programme, you will receive 5 collective lessons per week, given on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. These classes are dedicated to oral conversation.

  • Intensive Premium programme: 18 lessons + 7 mini-group lessons
This programme is a combination of the standard programme to which 7 bonus group classes have been added, with a maximum of 3 per group.
It's the best way to personalise your programme according to your needs and to focus on your difficulties and expectations.

  • Flash programme: 18, 25, or 40 lessons per week
The flash courses are the same as the standard, intensive, or intensive plus courses, but only have 3 students per class. Ideal for progressing quickly.

  • DELF preparation: option of 7 lessons per week
The DELF, the official exam of French and globally recognised, certifies your language level by giving you a French skills level between A1 and C2. This programme can be combined with the intensive or standard French programmes. The DELF preparation courses take place Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

  • Specialised French - Law or Business - 30 lessons per week
According to your preferred domain, you can follow law or business classes in French. A minimum level of intermediate is required and the number of students per group can vary between 5 and 12. These classes offer the acquisition of the necessary vocabulary for this domains.

Accommodation

We offer accommodation in a residence on campus.
