Program
Destination
Located on the majestic banks of the Saint Lawrence River, Québec City is one of the most picturesque cities in the world, and the capital of the Province of Québec. Founded by Champlain in 1608, it is the cradle of French civilization in North America. The greater Québec area population now nearly totals 700,000. Québec City is rich in history, architecture and traditions with a genuine European appeal. You will appreciate its pedestrian streets, excellent restaurants and numerous cafes. Québec is the only city in North America that has kept its historic fortifications. It was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
School
Our partner school is accredited by the governments of Canada and Quebec. It is located in the hearth of Old Québec, at the corner of Du Trésor, a quaint open-air gallery, and De Buade Streets, part of the « Walk through Old Québec » circuit. You will find restaurants and many boutiques at street level. The establishment is near the following monuments, attractions, and conveniences : the Château Frontenac, the Old Port, Place Royale, The Museum of Civilisation, The Museum of Québec, The Fort Museum, The Naval Reserve Academy and the Québec-Levis ferry-boat. There is an excellent network of bus routes throughout the city. Depending on the season, you can attend either the Québec Summer Music Festival or the Québec Winter Carnival.
We have friendly personal contact with every student. All of our instructors teach their mother tongue and have a diploma in language teaching. A placement test will be given to students upon arrival.
Activities
Every week, the school suggests activities for its participants. Many of these occur during the week, while others, further away, are reserved for weekends. While some of these activities are free, others are at the student’s expense, and instructors may or may not accompany these activities.
Courses
These language immersion programmes are intended for adults (18+) who want to improve their knowledge of French. Courses are from Monday to Friday, either in the morning or in the afternoon. Groups of 4 to 9 people at the same level. In order to maintain the homogeneity of the level, groups might be smaller than 4 students. When this situation happens, the schedule is adjusted : 1 student (10 hours), 2 students (15 hours) and 3 students (17.5 hours).
- Standard courses: 20 hours per week
You will acquire the vocabulary and grammatical structures of the target language with the aim of rapidly developing your French communicative skills. - Private courses: From 10 to 60 hours per week.
General, business and professional French. This is a course that could be adapted to specific needs (vocabulary, work situations, etc.). Both oral communication and writing courses are available. - Combined courses
Group courses and private tutoring. In this programme, participants take 20 hours per week in a group and, in addition, a certain number of hours determined by the student (5/10/20 hours per week) in a one-to-one course. This is especially good for foreign participants who are preparing to take language examinations.
