German in Berlin

Program

Destination

It has been the capital of reunited Germany since 1991 and is one of the great cities of Europe. Divided between the communist German Democratic Republic and the Democratic Federal Republic of Germany throughout the cold war, Berlin offers a unique opportunity to observe the the history of the second half of the last century. However, there is much more to see in Berlin than just remnants of Communism. The famous Museum Island is one of the largest museum complexes in the world and draws millions of visitors every year to see classic German art. The Pergamon Museum houses various monumental buildings from the antique world. All these factors combine to make Berlin a wonderful place to spend some time while learning German.

Berlin, remaining in perpetual construction since the fall of the Wall, offers the visitor its modern architecture in the "Mitte" district and the Potsdamer Platz, but preserves its place as "alternative" (districts of Kreuzberg and Prenzlauer Berg), where young artists flock from around the world. New Achievements (Reichstag, the Memorial to the Jews of Europe) around the symbolic Brandenburg Gate, in a city whose culture and festivity are now some of the strongest in Europe (Museum Island, New Picture Gallery) .
