Program
Destination
Florence, capital of Tuscany, was able to impose on the rest of Europe its "rinascita" (Renaissance). Rarely city has managed to concentrate as much political talent, artistic and literary era has rarely given birth to so many geniuses. As a major city of arts, the sensual Florence is among the most visited places in the world. It must, throughout the year, face a real tidal wave of travelers, which is growing even during the summer months. The Americans in particular are numerous, charmed to find together the foundations of European culture. Obviously, between the Duomo and the visit of the Uffizi Gallery, it is always possible to act as Barnabooth, the character from the novel by Valery Larbaud, and find refuge in the posh shops that enliven the city centre. Anyway, you have already abandoning the idea of seeing everything in one visit, as is the rich artistic heritage of this town-museum in the heart of Tuscany.
School
Founded in 1976, our partner school offers students from around the world the opportunity to learn Italian in the very heart of Florence, in a warm and welcoming setting.
The school is located in the historic centre, in a calm street near the central train station. It occupies three stories of a 19th century building and all classrooms are well-equipped with audio-visual material.
Courses
All levels are accepted, from complete beginner to advanced, with an average of 10 students per class. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes.
The first Monday after their arrival students take a written placement test to establish their level of Italian.
We offer the following programmes:
- General Italian: 20 lessons per week
4 lessons a day from Monday to Friday.
The courses generally take place in the morning, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, however certain groups may have lessons in the afternoon (from 1.30pm to 5pm), minimum duration of 2 weeks. - Intensive Italian: 30 lessons per week
Courses take place in the morning (from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm) and in the afternoon (from 1.30 pm to 3.00 pm), minimum duration of 2 weeks. - Combined courses: 20 + 10 lessons per week
This programme features 20 group lessons per week in the mornings with 10 private lessons in the afternoon. Minimum duration of 2 weeks. - Private lessons
This programme offers 20, 30, or 40 individual lessons per week.
It's the ideal format for those wishing to progress rapidly in a relatively short space of time. Minimum duration of 1 week.
Activities
The school organises a daily activity programme for participants. Students have the ability to broaden their knowledge of Italian culture, visit famous cities and towns or simply amuse themselves with their friends. The school’s teachers accompany the excursions, which are designed to help students better their Italian and their knowledge of Italian culture and traditions. The school posts an activity list in its entrance hall each day
Accommodation
Upon request, we can organise accommodation in Florence, maximum 20 minutes from the school. Accommodation is available from the Sunday before classes begin to the Saturday after they end:
- Host Families
Host families are the ideal method to allow students to fully integrate into daily Italian life. Our host families propose private rooms with half-board (2 meals a day). - Shared Apartments: only for students over 18
This option is offered for students who wish a greater degree of independence. The apartments are shared with other students and meals are not included in this option.
