School
Location
Rimini is a resort town well-known across Europe for its splendid beaches, active nightlife and its wonderful artistic and cultural patrimony. Founded as a Roman city in 268 BC, it is the place where Caesar made his famous crossing of the Rubicon. During the 13th and 14th centuries, the reign of the Malatestas transformed Rimini into a cultural and artistic centre. It is also the birth place of Federico Fellini. His love of his city stayed with him his entire life, and today an entire neighbourhood pays him homage: all the facades of the houses are decorated with frescoes representing the filmography of this great master.
School
The school is a prep centre for the CILS University of Sienna. It is located in the city centre just a few steps from the beaches. Classes are given on seven levels (from basic courses for beginners to perfection courses for advanced speakers). Participants take a written placement test upon arrival to ensure that they are placed in the appropriate level. At the end of each course, students receive a certificate of participation. Courses begin each Monday.
Courses
Classes take the form of small efficient groups and cover all aspects of Italian, with an emphasis on developing the oral and written skills of the participants.
We offer the following programmes to students aged 15 and up:
- General Italian: 20 lessons per week
4 lessons a day from Monday to Friday.
The courses generally take place in the morning, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, however certain groups may have lessons in the afternoon (from 1.30pm to 5pm), minimum duration of 2 weeks.
- Mini Group Courses
10 lessons per week (2 lessons per day, Monday to Friday).
These mini courses are very useful because they allow students to target one certain aspect of the Italian language and progress very rapidly. Students choose from available options, including grammar, conversation or written expression.
These courses are open for elementary speakers and above, for a duration of a week or more.
Activities and Excursions
The school offers a variety of activities, some free and others for a small fee :
- Guided tour of Rimini
- Weekly film screenings
- Italian music
- Guided visits to other Italian cities (Urbino, San Marino, Ravenna, Bologna...)
- Saturday excursions (Florence, Venice, Verona, Parma, Milan...)
- Beach party
- Sports (volleyball, horse riding, sailing, tennis, golf...)
Accommodation
- Host Family
Host families are the ideal method to allow students to fully integrate into daily Italian life. Students can choose between a private room or one shared with another student. All homestays include breakfast, but students under 18 also have the choice of half or full-board (2 or 3 meals a day). - Shared Apartment
This option is offered for students who wish for a greater degree of independence. The apartments are shared with other students and meals are not included in this option. Students may choose either a private or shared room in a furnished apartment of 3 rooms or more. The apartments are equipped with bathroom and kitchen shared with the other tenants.
