Destination

Playa del Carmen is situated on the coast of Yucatan and is truly considered the most beautiful city of "Riviera Maya". The city enjoys warm Caribbean climate all year round with an average temperature of 28° C. This is the perfect choice for people who want to study Spanish while enjoying an amazing beach holiday in Mexico.

Excursions to Mayan cities and the pyramids of Chichen Itza, Cobá and Ek Balám are some particularly popular attractions. In Playa del Carmen itself there are numerous shops, boutiques and a lovely market.

In the evening you can watch the beautiful sunset at dinner with tacos, fajitas, and margaritas before moving on to enjoy the vibrant nightlife of Playa del Carmen.

School

Our international Spanish Language school lies in the beautiful city of Playa del Carmen, which is known for endless Caribbean beaches and true Mexican culture. We combine a great mix of students from around the globe, highly qualified teachers in a modern full air conditioned, but typical Mexican school building with a beautiful garden in the heart of a beautiful location close to the beach.

The WiFi connection allows you to freely connect to the internet, and the beautiful courtyard is available to enjoy the sun during breaks and meet other international students at the school. Teaching is personalized; we will consider your interests and goals. It’s your choice in the wide range of courses offered, the formula that suits you best.

The open and friendly Mexicans help you to improve your Spanish really fast and getting the most out of your immersion programme.

Courses

Courses begin every Monday for all levels. Lessons are 55 minutes each. We offer mini groups with no more than five students per group, private and combined classes. Please note that classes can also be held in the afternoon during peak season.

You can select from the following courses:

• Standard Programme - mini group: 20 lessons per week
  Schedule: 9am - 1pm (potentially afternoons in summer)
• Intensive Programme - mini group: 25 lessons per week
  Schedule: 9am - 2:15pm (potentially afternoons in summer)
  
• Combined Programme: 20 group lessons + 10 private lessons per week
  Schedule: 9am - 3pm (potentially afternoons in summer)

Spanish and Diving

We also offer you the possibility to combine your language course with one of our numerous diving options.

With these you can learn all about the fascinatingly diverse underwater world of the second biggest coral reef in the world. Objects can be seen at a 25-meter distance thanks to the crystal-clear water. The diving equipment will be provided at your language course location. A diving insurance is not included in the price, but it still must be booked.

Here is a list of the packages we provide:

• PADI Open Water
  
  The Padi Open Water Brevet lets you learn the basics of diving. You will listen to a short theoretical and practical course in the pool, and will then go on into the sea itself to get your first diving experiences. Accompanied by a qualified instructor you will learn to appreciate step by step the beauty of the underwater world.
• PADI Advanced Open Water
  
  This programme builds upon the PADI Open Water course. Here you will be able to improve your already acquired diving skills and experience such special dives as night diving, wreck diving and deep diving.
• 7-Day Diving Package with 14 Dives
  
  The package includes 14 dives during the 7 days in Playa del Carmen (3 days), Cozumel (2 days) and in Cenotes (2 days). You can discuss the dives and the exact dates with our diving school locally (you can choose whether you wish to dive on work days or during the weekend).

Activities

Every week, the school offers a comprehensive recreational programme. You can learn more about Playa del Carmen and Mexico during dance classes, city tours, cooking classes, and fiestas. The school also organises interesting excursions around the city, for example to Otavalo, Papallacta, or Mitad del Mundo.

Moreover, excursions can be arranged at an additional cost to Tulum (most visited Mayan site in the world), Coba (popular pyramids and largest Mayan site), Chichen Itza (most famous archeological site of the Yucatan), Mérida (capital of the Mexican federal state of Yucatan), the Cenote Dos Ojos (biggest underwater cave system in the world), Cancun, etc.

Accommodation

Host family

Another popular choice among our students is living with a host family. Students who choose this option live in carefully selected host families which are situated within 5 to 20 minutes walk from the language school and the beach. Host families offer furnished single and double rooms with half board. Please note the double rooms are only for students traveling together.

If you are coming with a friend or partner, you are welcome to stay together in the same host family. Should you have any dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, allergies, etc.), please state those on your enrolment form, so that the family can prepare for your needs as best as possible.

Shared apartment

Many students live in our spacious shared apartments near the school. These comfortably furnished, fully air-conditioned apartments each have two or more bedrooms, a living room with TV and an adjacent kitchen, and one or more bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped. The apartments are cleaned and the bed sheets are changed once a week, but we kindly ask that you bring your own towels. Wireless internet access is available in all our apartments.

All apartments are within walking distance (about 10-15 minutes) of the school. You can also get to the school by using public transport; this only takes about 5 minutes.

You may book a single or double room, but there is no board included.

All year long, every Monday. Arrival on Sundays, departure on Saturdays.

Courses for beginners start the first and third Monday of every month.

Practical Info

Transport

• Arrival airport: Cancun International Airport (70km from Playa del Carmen)
• An (optional) transfer is available between airport and accommodation - see price table.

If you prefer, we can book your flights for you. This must be made clear at the moment of enrolment.

If you intend to book your own flight, try to arrive the Sunday before the start of your course and leave the Saturday following its end.

Visa Information

You do not need a visa for stays of less than 90 days in Mexico.

For a longer visit, you must apply for a student visa at your local Mexican Embassy. We will provide you with an invitation letter from the school (which you will need for your application).
