Benalmádena is located at the foot of the Sierra de Mijas, just 20 kilometres away from Malaga. Originally a fishing village, it has become a lively and animated town with a population of 30,000. However, it still retains its quaint charm and character, complete with beautiful and traditional little white-washed houses.
The friendly people, sports activities (water sports, golf, horseback riding), clubs, Flamenco shows, and the natural beauty of the seaside make Benalmádena the perfect place to study, have fun, and relax. The climate is mild, varying between a minimum winter temperature of 5°C and 35°C during the summer, making it a great place to study in all year round.
Its geographical location in the South of Andalusia makes it the ideal starting point to travel to larger cities that are rich in culture and heritage, like the Alhambra in Grenada, the Mezquita in Córdoba, the Giralda, and the historic city of Seville.
The Colegio Maravillas is situated in the residential area of Benalmádena, about ten minutes from the beach. It is officially recognized by the Instituto Cervantes.
This prestigious private school was founded in 1976 and is entirely equipped with modern facilities.
Accredited by: ELITE, FEDELE, the Bildungsurlaub of the German government and recognised by the Swedish government (CSN).
School facilities include:
Students take a placement test on the first day of class to determine their level of Spanish, from complete beginner to advanced. Classes are offered for students of all levels ranging from beginners to highly advanced speakers.
There are maximum 10 students per class, and all lessons are 55 minutes long. Students receive a progress report and a certificate of participation at the end of their stay.
20 lessons per week Monday - Friday (9am - 1:30pm). Classes focus on reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
20 Group lessons + 5 or 10 private lessons per week. In the mornings, students in this program take the group lessons of the Intensive Program, and then in the afternoons meet with a teacher for one-on-one lessons.
Spanish & Culture
This program has been created so students can combine intensive Spanish language lessons with cultural classes to give them an insight into Spanish culture:
Cooking: This workshop is instructed under the guidance of a professional chef. The course includes ingredients, tastings, and conversation. Spanish dishes prepared may include tortilla (omelette with potatoes) and sangria; gazpacho (cold soup of tomatoes and vegetables), ensalada malageuña (typical salad from Malaga), paella , porra antequerana (a spicier alternative to Gazpacho), and pescaito frito (fried fish).
Flamenco: These lessons introduce the keys concepts of dancing Flamenco, a dance style that came from the gypsies and made its way into the Andalusian culture of southern Spain.
To enhance the experience, the school regularly organizes cultural activities such as tapas tastings, dance nights, and concerts, as well as excursions to nearby cities like Seville, Cordoba, and many more.
We offer accommodation in a homestay, shared apartment, or residence.
This is undoubtedly one of the most effective ways to practice your language skills outside the boundaries of the classroom. You'll be fully immersed in Spanish culture as you will live alongside a Spanish family, reinforcing the Spanish lessons at school and enriching your cultural knowledge simultaneously. We take enormous care in selecting the best host family for the student and all of our families are carefully screened, and many frequently host students from abroad.
Optional at extra cost:
