Program
Destination
Lima, the nation’s capital, is the City of Kings and it is one of the most exciting places in South America.
It boasts a rich cultural heritage and a modern urban mindset. The city has many diverse faces; from the vividly painted colonial construction in the downtown core, to the makeshift houses built on the dry rolling hills of the outskirts, to the new shopping plazas and bank towers. There is something for everyone in Lima.
UNESCO ranks the architecture as a world heritage site, gourmets rate the cuisine as one of the finest in the world and the vibrant music and arts scene makes for an exciting nightlife. There is always a museum to visit, an art gallery to see or a nightclub to go dancing.
In addition, Lima is the natural springboard for the rest of your travels; it is centrally located on the Pacific coast and has road, train and air links to the rest of Peru and South America.
School
Our partner school is located in the modern seaside district of Miraflores, one of the most beautiful districts in Lima. The school building is a former residence constructed during the 1930’s.
Our school offers a certified academic programme in a friendly atmosphere. The intensive programme exposes participants to the Spanish language and Peruvian culture all day, every day. By attending intensive classes and living with a Peruvian family, participants have a unique opportunity for the fastest language learning possible. Our academic programme is accredited by the Peruvian Ministry of Education. The school’s size allows us to provide a properly structured learning programme while guaranteeing individual attention for every student. The friendly atmosphere has been a highlight for many of our former students.
There are 12 classrooms, a small lending library and a student room. Dozens of Internet cafes, restaurants and shops are within walking distance of the school. Our teachers are all university trained and regularly conduct instruction at embassies, multinational companies and NGO’s. The staff is very friendly and the school is well organised.
Courses
Participants study Spanish in a group class with no more than six students, or with a private teacher. Classes begin every Monday. Participants take a placement test before beginning their course. All levels from complete beginner to advanced.
General Spanish - 20 lessons of 55 minutes per week
You will develop all the language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) with our communicative programme.
One-to-one courses - 20 lessons of 55 minutes per week
We take a communicative intercultural focus, which centres upon a personalized, student-centreed instruction based on individual interests, needs and learning style. Private programmes available include: business, exam Preparation (DELE, CLEP, AP), grammar review and Spanish and culture.
Combined courses
20 lessons in groups + 10 individual lessons of 55 minutes per week.
This is the ideal formula for sharing and conversing with other international students in the morning all while benefiting from focused individual attention in the afternoon.
Activities
Once their Spanish class ends, participants take part in our afternoon city walking tours, dance classes or our cooking workshops among many others. Participants are quick to discover that Lima is full of places to explore, and that the mix of old and new make this dynamic Latin American city worth an extended visit.
There is a great diversity of excursions we organise for our students every week, such as visits to museums, city tours and boat trips.
Accommodation
Host family
This is an ideal way to maximize your Spanish skills. Living with a Peruvian family provides the opportunity to practice your language skills in a natural context while giving you first-hand experience of the cultural and social life of Peru. All of our home stay families live within 20 minutes of the school. Participants are housed in a shared bedroom with half-board.
