Program
Destination
Buenos Aires, with its population of almost 3 million people, is the hub of South America. Its port, which is the gateway for trade to all of Argentina as well as Paraguay, Uruguay, and large portions of Brazil, is one of the busiest in the world. Its busy streets packed with points of interest will please even the most cosmopolitan of visitors.
Buenos Aires is the birthplace of Tango and the centre of the Argentinian cinema industry. The University here has produced 5 Nobel prize winners and the city was considered the cultural capital of Argentina for the latter half of the last century (having wrestled this honor from the equally impressive city of Cordoba).
Buenos Aires is a busy, stimulating, and fun place to improve your Spanish and enjoy life.
School
Our partner school in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires offers the opportunity to take Spanish classes and improve your Spanish language in a unique setting with an array of options and packages to choose from. The school is located at the border of trendy Palermo and residential Belgrano, a beautiful and safe neighbourhood, in a lovely building with spacious, modernly equipped classrooms, a big study and leisure room for students. We also have a green garden and sunny balconies with a view over the leafy avenue. It offers you customized tutoring at the level and pace especially suited to your personal goals. The School is known for its interactive, communicative and personal teaching methods that will help you to start speaking Spanish quickly.
Free daily student activities are included in all programmes (cooking, dancing, music, lectures on Argentinean Culture and History, movies, a welcome drink) as well as all lesson materials, unlimited use of internet. Classes take place in a relaxed and stimulating atmosphere, maximizing a student’s ability to communicate in Spanish. Teachers rotate in order to give students the maximum exposure to the varieties of spoken Spanish.
Courses
Classes take place from Monday to Friday, except for official holidays which are not recoverable (instead, an alternative, cultural activity is offered). Classes take place either in the morning (from 9 am to 1 pm) or in the afternoon (from 2pm to 6 pm). Small groups (maximum 6 people). The first day of the course begins with an oral and written placement test. All levels from complete beginners to advanced. Minimum: 1 week.
- General Spanish courses: 20 or 20 + 5 lessons per week
The classes focus on grammar and speaking. Exercises to extend vocabulary and improve pronunciation. Development of listening, writing and reading comprehension, through using newspapers, songs and local literature. Guided conversation, role playing and debates.
To this you can choose to add 5 culture lessons per week. These take place every day Monday to Friday. They can take the form of a conference (art, history, literature), or an activity such as cooking or dance. Culture courses are an excellent way to practice your Spanish while learning more about the cultural context and meet new people. - Intensive Spanish courses: 30 lessons per week
This intensive programme offers two additional lessons per day to the general programme. We strongly recommend this for students wishing to immerse themselves fully in the language, or who want to progress at a quicker rate. - Spanish & Tango: 20 lessons + 5 hours of tango per week
You can combined your Spanish lessons with Tango. In this workshop you will not only learn how to dance, but also the art of Tango, where and how it was born, and how it has become so famous today. You can study Spanish in the morning and have your cultural option in the afternoon.
Activities and Excursions
The programme include a dynamic, interesting and fun leisure agenda that is complementary to the process of learning the Spanish language. All activities are geared towards socializing in a learning environment and increasing the student’s knowledge of Argentine Culture. Free cultural activities : walking tour in the surroundings of the school, Latin American movie presentation, weekly visit to the Buenos Aires’ museums (e.g. MALBA, Carlos Gardel, Evita Peron, etc.), visit to the World famous Cemetery in Recoleta, etc.
Other activities and trips can be arranged with the School on request.
Accommodation
Accommodation is available from the Sunday afternoon preceding the start of your course until the Saturday morning after your last day at school.
Host Family
The host family option has been developed particularly for those who wish to make a cultural journey with the aim of not only learning the language, but also learning about Argentina through immersion into an Argentine family.
Guest families are carefully chosen and monitored through regular inspections and student feedback. Most of them live about 30 minutes from the school by public transport. Single room (with a lock) and half board.
Shared apartment
For those who are planning for a longer stay in Buenos Aires and who enjoy living more independently, we offer the interesting possibility to stay in an off campus apartment.
All apartments are located in residential neighbourhoods at a maximum 30 minutes from the school and the city centre. They offer the students maximum security and the comfort of a fully equipped kitchen, along with furnished living room and bedrooms.
