Summer Camp at New Haven (Yale University)

Program

This American Summer Camp program is designed to bring youth from across the globe together to improve their English and participate in athletic and cultural activities in a fun and safe environment. The curriculum allows students to learn and practice English while exploring a new region of the United States. Participants are supervised by our motivated professional staff during all activities.

This program is open to all students aged 13 to 17 who are not complete beginners in English and includes 20 English lessons per week plus a supervised program of activities and excursions.

The program lasts either 2, 3, or 4 weeks.

No visa necessary for EU residents or Canadians - a valid passport is enough (along with an ESTA declaration to be completed before departure, we will provide you these documents).

Destination

Our summer camp program takes place in the town of New Haven, in the prestigious university of Yale.

New Haven is situated in the north east of the USA, not far from Boston. It's a historic and tranquil town which attracts musicians, particularly around New Haven Jazz Festival. Close to New York, our young participants will have the chance to visit the Big Apple during weekend excursions.

School

Our summer camp takes place on the actual Yale University campus. Known as one of the best universities in the USA and the world, our participants will be surrounded by 400 years of history. The mix of gothic and modern style of the university's architecture is sure to attract participants.

This campus is reputed to be the most urban and beautiful campus of the US.

Courses

Classes take place Monday to Friday with four lessons every morning. This amounts to 15 hours each week, with an average of 8 pupils per group.

Participants take a test upon arrival in order to be placed in a group according to their level. Certificates of participation are given out at the end of the program. Visits and excursions are discussed and organised in class so that the students understand and can make the most of them.

The timetable is organised to allow each student to gain the maximum benefit from their courses.

Activities and excursions

Activities take place on weekday afternoons and evenings. Saturday is dedicated to a full day excursion, and Sunday is a free day (always supervised by our group leaders).

Activities are varied and can include: a visit to New Haven and Yale University, swimming, treasure hunt, movie night, canoeing, planetarium and aquarium visits, wake-boarding, disco night, jame night, karaoke, excursions to New York.

Optional Study Tour

Students who begin their visit on the 1st or 8th of July can, if they choose to, participate in the Optional Study Tour. This constitutes a visit of 6 days and 6 night, which allows you to discover the main towns of the US east coast: Boston, NYC, and Washington D.C.

Accommodation

Students stay in one of the campus residences, in a shared room and bathroom.

Students enjoy full board throughout the week, except Saturdays where only breakfast is offered. They are therefore asked to arrange a little pocket money to cover lunch and dinner for the excursion day.
