Program
Destination
Alicante issituated in the east of Spain near Valencia, in the heart of the Costa Blanca. It is a beautiful city with a beach, an international airport and a population of 335,000 inhabitants. It is the city of dreams for tourists, with its turquoise-blue waters, palm trees and Mediterranean climate of 300 days of sun a year. The city is situated between some of the best vineyards in Spain, and the region is famous for its wine and olives. This culturally rich city, founded by the Carthaginian general, Hamilcar Barca, in the 3rd century BC, offers stunning panoramas of the Mediterranean Sea from its impressive city walls or from the citadel. This typical Spanish city has various cultural centres, shops and a lively nightlife, as well as numerous outdoor activities, such as windsurfing, water skiing, tennis, golf, and horse back riding.
School
Our partner school in Alicante is a language school who specializes in teaching the Spanish language to foreign students. The school in Alicante is only a five-minute walk from the old city centre and 10 minutes from the beach. All students have access to the computers and WiFi in the school. There is also a library where people can read magazines.
Programme
The programme has been designed for complete linguistic and cultural immersion for students aged between 13 and 17. The camp lasts a minimum of two weeks and there are 20 intensive Spanish lessons per week (4 hours a day).
- Lessons
Lessons are available to all levels, from beginners to advanced. Students are given a placement test when they arrive and are placed in the appropriate class level.
To ensure quality teaching, classes remain small (12 students maximum) and all teachers are native speakers of Spanish, and fully qualified.
Lessons cover the important points of learning a language: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, writing and speaking comprehension. At the end of the programme, participants receive a certificate signed by their teachers, with details of what they have achieved. - Activities
After the morning lessons, students have lunch with their host family between 13:30 and 16:00 and return in the afternoon or evening to participate in various activities with Spanish students and their supervisors. Students therefore have numerous opportunities to practice their Spanish in a relaxed atmosphere. Activities start at 16.00 and last until 20.00.
The activity programme includes: a guided visit of the city, outdoor activities (surfing, sailing, kayaking), game nights and cultural excursions, among many others.
All activities will take place under the supervision of professional and experienced counselors.
Accommodation
You will stay in a host family, in a shared room with full-board. All our host-families live close to the school (maximum 15-minute walk). Our families are selected based on multiple criteria and have experience in hosting foreign students.
