Program
Programme Overview
This programme is ideal for children and teens wishing to start learning or perfect their English. The mix of nationalities is guaranteed so they won't have much chance to speak their native language.
The mix of language classes and activities allows students to make real and rapid progress with their English: they have the opportunity to put into practice many of the ideas touched upon in their classes. Thus their learning is near constant, all while remaining fun and relaxed.
This programme is aimed at participants aged between 13 to 17.
Destination
London, fascinating capital of the United Kingdom, is the most populated city in Europe. Its population numbering more than 7.5 million, composed of very diverse ethnic communities, reflects its colonial past. Its dynamic nature in such varied domains as politics, education, finance, fashion and art makes it one of the most influential and admired cities in the world.
London is the ideal destination for learning English while being able to get to know the country's culture. Students can admire the famous historic monuments which attract millions of tourists every year: Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the Tower of London, and numerous free museums like the National Gallery.
London also offers students plenty of opportunities to spend their free time, with world-class shopping facilities such as Harrod’s or famous markets such as Covent Garden or Picadilly Circus. The city’s great cultural diversity translates to an incredibly diverse and rich gastronomical landscape, with restaurants on every corner offering good meals for comparatively reasonable prices.
School
Our partner school is in London's Zone 3, only 15 minutes from the public transport centre. The school has modern facilities, sports courts, and a large park.
Courses
This programme offers 20 English lessons per week, in the mornings from Monday to Friday.
These courses are aimed at students of all levels who wish to learn, improve or perfect their English. We accept all ability levels, from absolute beginners to the most advanced students.
On the first day the students are assessed to determine their grammatical knowledge and fluency of spoken English. Students are tested and placed into an appropriate class. We also make sure there is a good nationality mix in the class, with a maximum of 15 students per class.
The school proposes an interactive teaching method giving students enough confidence to practice English within and outside of the classroom. All areas of learning are covered in class: written and spoken production and comprehension.
Warning: there is a supplement for the London 2012 Olympics from the 22nd of July to the 11th of August (see price table).
Activities
The school and the organisers offer a range of sport and cultural activities every day adapted to the age and preferences of the participants.
Student timetables are designed to include a balance of sports (multi-sports and games) and cultural activities (visiting the Tate, the British Museum, Notting Hill, Piccadilly Circus, Buckingham Palace) and shopping opportunities on the famous Oxford Street. One out of every two evenings, the school proposes activities such as: a welcome disco, movie night, farewell disco night, and many more!
On a Saturday, the whole day is dedicated to an excursion and on Sundays students try out English life with their host families.
All travel expenses are included.
Accommodation
Living with a host family
Being housed with a host family is an effective way for students to regularly communicate with English speakers and better know English culture. Families are chosen by our local representative according to strict hospitality criteria and are, according to availability and the participant's preferences, close to the school or town centre.
The particularly welcoming families will share their daily life with the students and help them practice their English every day outside of class. Participants can get to school in about 10-20 minutes by bus, or on foot accompanied by a member of the family.
Full board is included (breakfast and dinner with the family, lunch at school).
