Program Overview

This programme is ideal for children and teens wishing to start learning or perfect their English. The mix of nationalities is guaranteed so they won't have much chance to speak their native language.

The mix of language classes and activities allows students to make real and rapid progress with their English: they have the opportunity to put into practice many of the ideas touched upon in their classes. Thus their learning is near constant, all while remaining fun and relaxed.

For activities and lessons, groups are divided according to age: one group of 7 - 10, and one for 11 - 15 years old.

Destination

Ascot is a small town located just 20 minutes away from the centre of London, perfect place for young children and teenagers staying in a summer camp.

London also offers students plenty of opportunities to pass their free time, with world-class shopping facilities such as Harrod’s or famous markets such as Covent Garden or Picadilly Circus. The city’s great cultural diversity translates to an incredibly diverse and rich gastronomical landscape, with restaurants on every corner offering good meals for comparatively reasonable prices.

School

The partner school is located in Ascot, near London city. There are two schools, St Mary’s is located at 15 minute walk from the centre of Ascot and St George’s is situated on Ascot High Street. At St Mary’s the programme is designed for young people from the age of 7 years to 15 years and at St George’s from 11 years to 15 years. Both schools have excellent facilities such as playing fields, indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis courts, sports hall, computer rooms, etc.

On the first day the students are assessed to determine their grammatical knowledge and fluency of spoken English. Students are tested and placed into an appropriate class. This is firstly within an age band (7-10 / 11-15) and within that in levels. We also make sure there is a good nationality mix in the class.

Courses

The classes start on Tuesday as students arrive on Monday.

The students will be able to use English accurately and fluently. Our methodology combines traditional language teaching with the latest teaching techniques. Students learn relevant language which they can put into immediate use.

These courses are aimed at students of all levels who wish to learn, improve or perfect their English. We accept all ability levels, from absolute beginners to the most advanced students. We offer a minimum of 20 lessons of language teaching which is divided into 3 areas: course book, communication skills and projects. This interactive skills lesson gives the students the language and the confidence to use English around the school. The projects are separate and taught by a different teacher giving students the opportunity to hear different accents. The projects are based on topics chosen by the teacher and the Director of Studies.

The St. George campus is full from 09/07 to 30/07. There are still places left in St. Mary.

Activities

The students have activities in three age groups (7-10/ 11-14/ 15-17). Student timetables are designed to include a balance of sports (football, dodgeball, swimming pool, horse riding, tennis, dance, etc.) and creative activities (acting, drawing, cinema, etc.) and they also have one afternoon for shopping once a week. The excursions take place on Thursday afternoon and Sunday, they help students experience the historical and cultural aspects of England.

Accommodation

Students stay in an on-campus residence. Both schools offer a wide range of accommodation. There are single, twin and triple rooms for ages 11 to 17: all rooms have a sink and a safe deposit box. Showers and toilets are shared. Also available are bedrooms offering 6 and 8 beds. These are suitable for younger children or a group of friends. All bedrooms are beautifully designed and decorated with colour coordinated bed linen, curtains and carpets.

There are two beautifully designed small dormitories containing 26 beds for ages 7 to 10. Once again each area has its own sink and safe deposit. The dormitories are newly and tastefully decorated making them a popular choice with small groups and young children.

Preferable length is 2 weeks, although we accept 1 week stays.

Stays are from Monday to Monday.

Courses starting dates:

• Easter: 25/03 - 14/04, for 1 or 2 weeks
• 9 July: 1, 2, or 3 weeks
• 23rd July: 1, 2, or 3 weeks
• 30th July: 2 weeks
• 6th August: 1 week

Practical Info

Travel to London

• Arrival: London (all airports, preferably Heathrow, or St.Pancras station)
• Transfers possible from airport to campus (see price table)

VISA Information

For non-EU residents, you can apply for a Student Visitor Visa to enter the UK. It is valid for 6 months, even if you intend to stay for less time. It does not entitle you to work. We do not include any VISA application fees in our prices.
