Program
This American Summer Camp programme is designed to bring youth from across the globe together to improve their English and participate in athletic and cultural activities in a fun and safe environment. The curriculum allows students to learn and practice English while exploring a new region of the United States. Participants are supervised by our motivated professional staff during all activities.
This programme is open to all students aged 13 to 18 who are not complete beginners in English and includes 20 English lessons per week plus a supervised programme of activities and excursions.
The programme lasts either 2, 3, or 4 weeks.
No visa necessary for EU residents or Canadians - a valid passport is enough (along with an ESTA declaration to be completed before departure, the documents for which we will provide you with).
Destination
San Francisco is an important cultural, economic and tourist destination in the United States. Our partner school is situated in a vast wooded environment, in between the city and the Bay of San Francisco. Our campus includes an indoor basketball court, a football field, volleyball and tennis courts and a pool.Students take English classes in the morning and participate in activities in the afternoon.
Students participate in English classes during the morning and activities in afternoon. Numerous supervised activities and excursions are scheduled during the week, such as: boat tours of the bay, beach activities at Santa Cruz, Fisherman’s Wharf, Cable Car Ride, CA Academy of Sciences, and Alcatraz Island.
The School
Our school, situated in a large wooded area, enjoys a privileged environment, between the city and the bay of San Francisco. Students can use all the campus facilities, such as an indoor basketball court, a football pitch and a volleyball and tennis court, and a swimming pool, during the times at which such activities have been organised.
Courses
Classes take place Monday to Friday with four lessons every morning. This amounts to 15 hours each week, with a maximum of 15 pupils per group.
Participants take a test upon arrival in order to be placed in a group according to their level. Certificates of participation are given out at the end of the programme. Visits and excursions are discussed and organised in class so that the students understand and can make the most of them.
The timetable is organised to allow each student to gain the maximum benefit from their courses.
Activities and excursions
Activities take place in the afternoons and evenings during the week and the weekend. Each week, all students take part in 3 half-day excursions and one full-day excursion.
Many supervised activities are organised in and around San Francisco: cruises in the Bay, a cable car tour, beach games at Santa Cruz, as well as tourist visits: Fisherman's Wharf, Californian Science Academy, or even the isle of Alcatraz (additional payment of 26$ payable on-site).
Accommodation
The campus at Berkeley university spreads over 200 hectares. It allow students to develop in a unique environment and tackle both the study of English and numerous sports and activities. Situated about 20 km east of San Francisco, it's very easy to get back into town.
Students stay in double furnished rooms in campus residences. Bathrooms are available on each floor of the residence.
Students enjoy full board during the week - lunches are not included on the weekends. Only dinner is offered the day of arrival, and only breakfast on the day of departure. Meals are taken in the campus cafeteria.
A deposit is payable on arrival (amount and payment methods will be clarified in the information we will send you before you leave).
